Follow-through and goals

Make follow-through clearer than another good intention

When a promise is sincere but underspecified, both partners can leave the conversation with different expectations. HerWay turns the request into reviewable terms before it becomes active.

Product boundary

A Creator can propose. A Doer can accept, counter, or decline. No agreement means no active commitment.

Recognize the pattern

The promise was real, but the plan was missing

Someone says they will handle it. Days pass. One partner assumes there is still time while the other starts wondering whether they need to ask again.

Repeated misses do not always mean a lack of care. The commitment may have no clear deadline, finish line, or response to a schedule that changed.

Where it breaks down

Why sincere promises still slip

Follow-through becomes easier to judge when both partners agreed on what the promise required.

01

The action is broad

I will take care of it can hide several steps and no clear finish line.

02

The deadline is soft

A task without a time can keep moving behind whatever feels more urgent.

03

Capacity is never negotiated

Agreement made in the moment may not fit the Doer's actual week.

How HerWay works here

The proposal stays separate from the agreement

The Creator starts the request. The Doer's response decides whether that request moves forward, changes, or stops.

1

Creator proposes

A request, not an active rule

Book the plumber and confirm the appointment before Friday at 5 PM.
2

Doer reviews

Three meaningful choices

3

Counter example

The Doer changes proposed terms

I can book it by Monday because I am traveling until Friday.

Optional explanation: I will not have access to the building details this week.

Mutually agreed

Only matching final terms become active

Book and confirm the plumber by Monday at 5 PM

The Creator reviews a counter. This page does not invent later product states. The commitment shown above represents terms both partners have accepted.

Example commitments

Specific enough to review before accepting

These are examples, not assignments. Every real proposal still needs the Doer's response and matching final terms.

Optional consequences stay optional

A clear commitment should stand on its own. Couples may include an optional financial consequence when both people want it, but the amount must be explicit and agreed before the commitment becomes active.

Optional + explicit + mutually agreed

HerWay can help when

  • Both partners voluntarily want a clearer commitment.
  • A request keeps becoming vague, forgotten, or repeatedly discussed.
  • The Doer needs a real chance to accept, counter, or decline the proposed terms.

HerWay is not for

  • Forcing a partner to accept an obligation they do not want.
  • Monitoring location, devices, or private behavior.
  • Replacing therapy, medical care, crisis support, or a safety plan.

FAQ

Practical questions before you start

What if my partner needs different terms?

The Doer can counter the proposal and optionally explain why. The Creator reviews the counter, and no commitment is active until both partners accept the same terms.

Does a proposal mean my partner has agreed?

No. A proposal is only a request for review. The Doer can accept, counter, or decline it.

How should we choose verification?

Use Honor when self-confirmation is enough. Use Photo Proof when a visible result or confirmation image fits the task. Neither option is automated behavior detection.

Do we have to add money to a commitment?

No. A financial consequence is optional. If a couple includes one, it must be explicit and accepted by both partners as part of the final terms. HerWay does not require money for an agreement.

Can we switch the Creator and Doer roles?

There is no instant role switch while a partnership is active. To reverse roles, partners disconnect, existing tasks are paused, select or change roles, and reconnect under the new setup.

Turn the next promise into terms you both understand

Make the action and timing specific, then give your partner room to accept, counter, or decline.
